Cancer Loss Walk – Dedicated to the Ones We Love – Making Time for your Grief
April 15 @ 10:30 am - 2:30 pm
On Saturday 15th April we will be undertaking a 6-7 mile walk to raise money for The Loss Foundation. We will be walking and holding in mind our dearest loved ones who are no longer here with us. This event is specifically for people who have lost a loved one to cancer.
Where are we walking?
We’ve arranged an 6-7 mile walk starting with a stroll from Hampton Court Station along the Thames Path passing Hampton Court Gardens, Kingston Bridge, Teddington Lock, Petersham and finishing at Richmond.
The walking route follows an easy national trail and will allow us to take in some of the most beautiful parts of London. It is a very straight and flat route, making it easily accessible for all.
Can anyone take part?
Our walk will be for people who have lost a loved one to cancer. The aim is to give you space to meet and talk with others who have experienced a similar loss, which our users tell us they find extremely helpful.
We will be limiting the number of walkers to 25 people so that we do not have too large a walking group. Some of our volunteers will also be joining on the day to walk and talk alongside you.
Please note that we do not allow guests unless you let us know in advance (as we are capping the number of attendees for each walk). Pets and children are also not able to attend.
What are the timings for the day?
Walkers will be meeting at 10:30am at Hampton Court for a 10:45am start.
There will be regular stops with time to eat lunch. We will them aim to end the walk between 2:00pm – 3:00pm in Richmond, however, people are welcome to walk shorter distances and leave at Kingston Bridge.
Do I need to be a professional walker?
Definitely not. The day is about being together, spending time with others who have experienced similar things, and being outdoors. It’s not about being fit or racing.
How do I get involved?

All walkers are required to raise a minimum of £100 to take part in the walk so that we can continue to provide our bereavement support services. These have grown exponentially over the last year and we need your help to continue them. This can either be self-funding, by asking friends and family to sponsor you or a mix, whichever works for you. We will send you a link to our fundraising page and also send you a sponsorship form to help you with your fundraising efforts.
