On Saturday 18th September we will be undertaking an 8-10 mile walk to raise money for The Loss Foundation. We will be walking and holding in mind our dearest loved ones who are no longer here with us. This event is specifically for people who have lost a loved one to cancer (we are running a separate event in October 2021 for people bereaved by coronavirus).
Where are we walking?
We’ve arranged an 8-10-mile walk starting with a stroll from Hampton Court along the Thames Path passing Hampton Court Gardens, Kingston Bridge, Teddington Lock, Petersham and Richmond, and landing in Kew.
The walking route follows an easy national trail and will allow us to take in some of the most beautiful parts of London. It is a very straight and flat pathed route, making it easily accessible for all.
Can anyone take part?
Our September walk will be for people who have lost a loved one to cancer (we are running a separate event in October 2021 for people bereaved by coronavirus). The aim is to give you space to meet and talk with others who have experienced a similar loss, which our users tell us they find extremely helpful.
We will be limiting the number of walkers to 25 people so that we do not have too large a walking group. Some of our volunteers will also be joining on the day to walk and talk alongside you.
What are the timings for the day?
Walkers will be meeting at 10:15am at Hampton Court for a 10:30am start.
There will be regular stops with time to eat lunch. We will them aim to end the walk between 2:30pm – 3:30pm in Kew, however, people are welcome to walk shorter distances and leave at Kingston Bridge or Richmond.
Do I need to be a professional walker?
Definitely not. The day is about being together, spending time with others who have experienced similar things, and being outdoors. It’s not about being fit or racing.
How do I get involved?
Click on the button below to register your interest. Participation is free.
We are inviting walkers to raise a minimum of £100 in memory of loved ones so that we can continue to develop our bereavement support services, which have grown exponentially over the last year. We will send you a link to our fundraising page and also send you a sponsorship form to help you with your fundraising efforts.
