SUMMARY:Walk and Talk - Havant Coastal Walk\, Hampshire - Loss to Cancer
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday 11th August 2024 we will be hosting an informal walk and talk event around the Havant Coast. \n\n\n\nThis event is specifically for people who have lost a loved one to cancer.  \n\n\n\nThis event is for people aged 18 and over. \n\n\n\nWhere are we walking?The walk will start in Havant and follow the Hayling Billy Trail south to Chichester Harbour. If the tide allows we will head along the beach to Warblington then return back. It will last approximately an hour. \n\n\n\nCan anyone take part?Our walk is open to any adult who has had a loved one die from cancer. The aim is to give you space to meet and talk with others who have experienced a similar loss\, which our users tell us they find extremely helpful. \n\n\n\nWe will be limiting the number of walkers to 11 people so that we do not have too large a walking group. One of our volunteers will be hosting the event to walk and talk alongside you. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we do not allow guests unless you let us know in advance (as we are capping the number of attendees for each walk). \n\n\n\nPets and children are also not able to attend. \n\n\n\nWhat are the timings for the day?Walkers will be meeting at 10:00am. We aim to complete the walk just over one hour later\, at approximately 11:15am. \n\n\n\nDo I need to be a professional walker?Definitely not. The event is about being together\, spending time with others who have experienced similar things\, and being outdoors. This event will focus on sleep difficulties with grief. \n\n\n\nThe event will be led by one of our Clinical Psychologists and take an active therapeutic approach\, which means it will involve some talking as a group but also some structured content focusing specifically on sleep difficulties in grief. \n\n\n\nAt The Loss Foundation we are committed to providing the best support possible to those who use our services. We know it’s not a one size fits all when it comes to grief\, and therefore we are always keen to learn if and how our support is beneficial. People partaking in our online workshop will be invited to complete some questionnaires before and after the event – all of which are made anonymous. \n\n\n\nTo ensure that the groups run as well as possible online we will be limiting the number of people able to join the session. We often have more people signing up for each group than there are spaces. SUMMARY:Sunday Sanctuary: Time After Loss for Partners
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday 29th September for a compassionate and supportive day dedicated to making space for grief and connecting with others who have experienced similar losses. \n\n\n\nThis in-person event is specifically for people who have lost a partner to cancer. (Please note\, we will be hosting similar events for other types of losses in the near future.) \n\n\n\nIt’s a space where you can connect\, share\, and heal with others who understand your unique journey through grief. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed or seeking ways to adapt to life without your loved one\, this event is designed to meet you wherever you are in your bereavement process. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur day will run from 10:00 – 16:30 and will include the following elements: \n\n\n\n– Support Group Space facilitated by our brilliant and compassionate volunteers.– Short Meditation Exercises focused on relaxation rather than deep meditation.– Tea and Tips – a Q&A session with our Clinical Psychologist who can provide guidance on coping with the everyday challenges of grief\, such as troubled sleep\, guilt\, etc.– Informal Connection Time to interact with others outside of the facilitated sessions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur event will take place at Colet House\, in the heart of London\, a space dedicated to enhancing inner peace\, happiness\, and spiritual growth for Londoners since the 1950s. The venue is accessible by tube (right next to Barons Court tube station) with plenty of free parking available on surrounding roads. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note: \n\n\n\n– Snacks and drinks will be provided\, but attendees are required to bring their own lunch. There are local cafes for those who prefer to buy it on the day. \n\n\n\n– This is a paid event to cover all associated costs. We understand that each person has their own unique financial situation. This event will focus on coping with traumatic and difficult memories in grief. \n\n\n\nThe event will be led by one of our Clinical Psychologists and take an active therapeutic approach\, which means it will involve some talking as a group but also some structured content focusing specifically on coping with memories and some strategies to try. \n\n\n\nAt The Loss Foundation we are committed to providing the best support possible to those who use our services. We know it’s not a one size fits all when it comes to grief\, and therefore we are always keen to learn if and how our support is beneficial. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 12th October 2024 we will be hosting an informal walk and talk event starting at Hammersmith\, London and ending at The Bishop’s Palace\, Fulham. \n\n\n\nThis event is specifically for people who have lost a loved one to cancer. This event is for people aged 18 and over. \n\n\n\nWhere are we walking?The walk will be starting in Hammersmith and ending at The Bishop’s Palace\, Fulham. It will last approximately an hour and a quarter. \n\n\n\nCan anyone take part?Our walk is open to any adult who has had a loved one die from cancer. The aim is to give you space to meet and talk with others who have experienced a similar loss\, which our users tell us they find extremely helpful. \n\n\n\nWe will be limiting the number of walkers to 11 people so that we do not have too large a walking group. One of our volunteers will be hosting the event to walk and talk alongside you. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we do not allow guests unless you let us know in advance (as we are capping the number of attendees for each walk). \n\n\n\nPets and children are also not able to attend. \n\n\n\nWhat are the timings for the day?Walkers will be meeting at 10:30am and starting at 10:45pm.We aim to complete the walk just over one hour and a quarter later\, at approximately 12:00pm. \n\n\n\nDo I need to be a professional walker?Definitely not. The event is about being together\, spending time with others who have experienced similar things\, and being outdoors. DESCRIPTION:Theme: This support group is open to anyone who has lost a sibling to cancer \n\n\n\nJoin our online bereavement support group on Thursday 31st October 2024 from 7:00-8:30pm. \n\n\n\nTo ensure that the groups run as well as possible online we will be limiting the number of people able to join the session. We often have more people signing up for each group than there are spaces. We know it is difficult to predict how you will feel on the day itself\, but please only complete registration if you think you will be able to attend. \n\n\n\nThis event is for people aged 18 and over. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 2nd November 2024 we will be hosting an informal walk and talk event around University Parks\, Oxford. \n\n\n\nThis event is specifically for people who have lost a loved one to cancer.  \n\n\n\nThis event is for people aged 18 and over. \n\n\n\nWhere are we walking?The walk will be around University Parks and will last approximately until 12:00 hours. \n\n\n\nCan anyone take part?Our walk is open to any adult who has had a loved one die from cancer. The aim is to give you space to meet and talk with others who have experienced a similar loss\, which our users tell us they find extremely helpful. \n\n\n\nWe will be limiting the number of walkers to 11 people so that we do not have too large a walking group. One of our volunteers will be hosting the event to walk and talk alongside you. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we do not allow guests unless you let us know in advance (as we are capping the number of attendees for each walk). \n\n\n\nPets and children are also not able to attend. \n\n\n\nWhat are the timings for the day?Walkers will be meeting at 10:30am. We aim to complete the walk \, at approximately 12:00pm. \n\n\n\nDo I need to be a professional walker?Definitely not. The event is about being together\, spending time with others who have experienced similar things\, and being outdoors.
