(Please note\, we will be hosting similar events for other types of losses in the near future.) \n\n\n\nIt’s a space where you can connect\, share\, and heal with others who understand your unique journey through grief. The venue is accessible by tube (right next to Barons Court tube station) with plenty of free parking available on surrounding roads. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note: \n\n\n\n– Snacks and drinks will be provided\, but attendees are required to bring their own lunch. There are local cafes for those who prefer to buy it on the day. \n\n\n\n– This is a paid event to cover all associated costs. We understand that each person has their own unique financial situation. SUMMARY:Grief Support Meeting – Coping with traumatic and difficult memories in grief
DESCRIPTION:Theme: This support group is open to anyone who has lost a loved one to cancer or to coronavirus \n\n\n\nJoin our online grief support meeting on Thursday 10th October 2024 from 10:00-11:30am. \n\n\n\nWelcome to our 1.5-hour grief support meeting online. This event will focus on coping with traumatic and difficult memories in grief. \n\n\n\nThe event will be led by one of our Clinical Psychologists and take an active therapeutic approach\, which means it will involve some talking as a group but also some structured content focusing specifically on coping with memories and some strategies to try. \n\n\n\nAt The Loss Foundation we are committed to providing the best support possible to those who use our services. We know it’s not a one size fits all when it comes to grief\, and therefore we are always keen to learn if and how our support is beneficial. People partaking in our online workshop will be invited to complete some questionnaires before and after the event – all of which are made anonymous. \n\n\n\nTo ensure that the groups run as well as possible online we will be limiting the number of people able to join the session. We often have more people signing up for each group than there are spaces. We know it is difficult to predict how you will feel on the day itself\, but please only complete registration if you think you will be able to attend. \n\n\n\nThis event is for people aged 18 and over. SUMMARY:Walk and Talk - Hammersmith to The Bishop's Palace\, Fulham
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 12th October 2024 we will be hosting an informal walk and talk event starting at Hammersmith\, London and ending at The Bishop’s Palace\, Fulham. \n\n\n\nThis event is specifically for people who have lost a loved one to cancer. This event is for people aged 18 and over. \n\n\n\nWhere are we walking? The walk will be starting in Hammersmith and ending at The Bishop’s Palace\, Fulham. It will last approximately an hour and a quarter. \n\n\n\nCan anyone take part? Our walk is open to any adult who has had a loved one die from cancer. The aim is to give you space to meet and talk with others who have experienced a similar loss\, which our users tell us they find extremely helpful. \n\n\n\nWe will be limiting the number of walkers to 11 people so that we do not have too large a walking group. One of our volunteers will be hosting the event to walk and talk alongside you. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we do not allow guests unless you let us know in advance (as we are capping the number of attendees for each walk). \n\n\n\nPets and children are also not able to attend. \n\n\n\nWhat are the timings for the day?Walkers will be meeting at 10:30am and starting at 10:45pm.We aim to complete the walk just over one hour and a quarter later\, at approximately 12:00pm. \n\n\n\nDo I need to be a professional walker?Definitely not. The event is about being together\, spending time with others who have experienced similar things\, and being outdoors. It’s not about being fit or racing. \n\n\n\nHow do I get involved? To register for this event you will need to complete the registration form below: \n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\nYou will be sent an email with full details for the walk. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we are not a crisis service\, so if you are in need of immediate support please do reach out to Samaritans who provide immediate listening support. They can be reached on 116 123. \n\n\n\nWe send all participants a short survey after the session to get their feedback so that we can improve our services for all. SUMMARY:Walk and Talk - Havant Coastal Walk\, Hampshire - Loss to Cancer
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday 17th November 2024 we will be hosting an informal walk and talk event around the Havant Coast. \n\n\n\nWho is this walk for? \n\n\n\nThis walk is for adults (18+) who have lost a loved one to cancer. It’s a space to connect with others who truly understand\, in a supportive and relaxed environment. \n\n\n\nWhere will we be walking? \n\n\n\nWe’ll begin in Havant and follow the scenic Hayling Billy Trail down to Chichester Harbour. If the tide allows\, we’ll stroll along the beach to Warblington before heading back. The walk will take about an hour and is designed to be gentle and enjoyable. \n\n\n\nFeeling nervous? \n\n\n\nWe understand that joining a group like this might feel daunting – it’s completely normal to feel unsure. Many of our walkers have felt the same way at first. Rest assured\, this is a welcoming and supportive space. You can take things at your own pace\, and there’s no pressure to talk more than you feel comfortable. Here is a quote from one of our previous walkers: \n\n\n\n“It was a small enough group that we could engage in deeper conversation. We all went for coffee afterwards. Honestly\, the best grief event I’ve ever attended. Thank you Loss Foundation!!” \n\n\n\nWhat to expect: \n\n\n\n\nA small group of up to 10 walkers to keep things intimate and comfortable.\n\n\n\nA friendly volunteer host who will walk and chat with you\, making sure everyone feels at ease.\n\n\n\nThe chance to spend time outdoors with people who’ve experienced similar loss.\n\n\n\n\nWe ask that you let us know in advance if you’d like to bring a guest (as spaces are limited) and kindly note that pets and children cannot join the walk. \n\n\n\nWhat are the timings for the day?Walkers will be meeting at 10:00am. We aim to complete the walk just over one hour later\, at approximately 11:15am. \n\n\n\nWho is the host? \n\n\n\nOur lovely volunteer Steve will be hosting this walk. Look out for his friendly face on arrival. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDo I need to be an experienced walker? \n\n\n\nNot at all! This walk isn’t about fitness or speed. It’s about being outdoors\, meeting others\, and finding comfort in shared experiences. Whether you’re a seasoned walker or a total beginner\, you’re very welcome. \n\n\n\nReady to join us? \n\n\n\nSign up by completing the registration form below\, and we’ll send you an email with all the details you need to take part. \n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\nYou will be sent an email with full details for the walk. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we are not a crisis service\, so if you are in need of immediate support please do reach out to Samaritans who provide immediate listening support. SUMMARY:Grief Support Meeting – Words of Healing\, a Grief Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Theme: This support group is open to anyone who has lost a loved one to cancer or to coronavirus \n\n\n\nJoin our online grief support meeting on Thursday 21st November 2024 from 10:00am-12:00pm. \n\n\n\nWelcome to our 2 hour grief support meeting online. This event will involve exploring different writing exercises to help us make room for\, and process\, our grief. \n\n\n\nWriting is an extremely powerful form of processing. Whether you have taken this approach before or not\, this event is open to all.  \n\n\n\nThe event will be led by one of our Clinical Psychologists and take an active therapeutic approach\, which means it will cover some structured content specifically around writing exercises. There will be invitations to explore some writing strategies during the workshop\, and these will be private exercises. Nobody will need to share anything written\, and all exercises are an invitation rather than compulsory. We will also be making room to talk as a group outside of writing. Please get in touch with us if you are looking for support for children so we can signpost you to other organisations. \n\n\n\nHow will this work? You can register to join the grief support meeting by clicking the Registration button below. \n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\nYou will be sent an email with instructions for joining the video and you can click in at the time of the meeting to get started and meet others. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we are not a crisis service\, so if you are in need of immediate support please do reach out to Samaritans who provide immediate listening support. They can be reached on 116 123. \n\n\n\nMuch like our in-person events\, our online support groups are informal and welcoming\, and the space is there for you to use it as you need it on the day. Our excellent volunteers will be there to welcome you online and support you. \n\n\n\nWe send all participants a short survey after the session to get their feedback so that we can improve our services for all. Thank you for your contribution in helping us improve our support.

SUMMARY:Walk and Talk - River Exe Walk and Talk\, Exeter - Loss to Cancer
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 7th December 2024 we will be hosting an informal walk and talk event along the River Exe in Exeter. \n\n\n\nWho is this walk for? This walk is for adults (18+) who have lost a loved one to cancer. It’s a space to connect with others who truly understand\, in a supportive and relaxed environment. \n\n\n\nWhere will we be walking? The walk will start at Exeter St David’s railway station and head the River Exe and return back to the beginning. The walk will last approximately 2 hours\, and is designed to be gentle and enjoyable. \n\n\n\nFeeling nervous? We understand that joining a group like this might feel daunting – it’s completely normal to feel unsure. \n\n\n\nWhat are the timings for the day?Walkers will be meeting at 2pm. We aim to complete the walk just over two hours later\, at approximately 4pm. This will be a very casual walk. \n\n\n\nWho is the host? Our lovely volunteer James will be hosting this walk. He will have a yellow Loss Foundation sign and will be wearing a lanyard. \n\n\n\nDo I need to be an experienced walker? Not at all! This walk isn’t about fitness or speed. It’s about being outdoors\, meeting others\, and finding comfort in shared experiences. Whether you’re a seasoned walker or a total beginner\, you’re very welcome. \n\n\n\nReady to join us?Sign up by completing the registration form below\, and we’ll send you an email with all the details you need to take part. \n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\nYou will be sent an email with full details for the walk. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we are not a crisis service\, so if you are in need of immediate support please do reach out to Samaritans who provide immediate listening support. They can be reached on 116 123. \n\n\n\nWe send all participants a short survey after the session to get their feedback so that we can improve our services for all.
