SUMMARY:Grief Support Meeting – Coping with difficult memories in grief
DESCRIPTION:Theme: This support group is open to anyone who has lost a loved one to cancer or to coronavirus \n\n\n\nJoin our online grief support meeting on Tuesday 7th May 2024 from 7:00-8:30pm. \n\n\n\nWelcome to our 1.5-hour grief support meeting online. This event will focus on coping with difficult memories in grief. \n\n\n\nThe event will be led by one of our Clinical Psychologists and take an active therapeutic approach\, which means it will involve some talking as a group but also some structured content focusing specifically on coping with memories and some strategies to try. \n\n\n\nAt The Loss Foundation we are committed to providing the best support possible to those who use our services. We know it’s not a one size fits all when it comes to grief\, and therefore we are always keen to learn if and how our support is beneficial. People partaking in our online workshop will be invited to complete some questionnaires before and after the event – all of which are made anonymous. \n\n\n\nTo ensure that the groups run as well as possible online we will be limiting the number of people able to join the session. We often have more people signing up for each group than there are spaces. We know it is difficult to predict how you will feel on the day itself\, but please only complete registration if you think you will be able to attend. \n\n\n\nThis event is for people aged 18 and over. Please get in touch with us if you are looking for support for children so we can signpost you to other organisations. \n\n\n\nHow will this work? You can register to join the grief support meeting by clicking the Registration button below. \n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\nYou will be sent an email with instructions for joining the video and you can click in at the time of the meeting to get started and meet others. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we are not a crisis service\, so if you are in need of immediate support please do reach out to Samaritans who provide immediate listening support. They can be reached on 116 123. \n\n\n\nMuch like our in-person events\, our online support groups are informal and welcoming\, and the space is there for you to use it as you need it on the day. Our excellent volunteers will be there to welcome you online and support you. \n\n\n\nWe send all participants a short survey after the session to get their feedback so that we can improve our services for all. Thank you for your contribution in helping us improve our support.

SUMMARY:Online grief support bubble – Parent loss to cancer for adults under 40
DESCRIPTION:Theme: This support group is open to anyone under 40 years old who has lost a parent to cancer \n\n\n\nJoin our online bereavement support group on Wednesday 22nd May 2024 from 7:00-8:30pm. \n\n\n\nWhat is a Grief Support Bubble? Our Grief Support Bubbles will run in much the same way as our other support groups\, giving you a chance to meet others with a similar loss. The only difference is that the closed groups will allow for the same group of people to meet each month for 4 months. We think this will create a greater opportunity to make more meaningful connections and for people to benefit more from the group process. \n\n\n\nThe dates for this support group are: 22nd May\, 26th June\, 24th July and 28th August \n\n\n\nPlease note you need to be able to attend all sessions to join the group. \n\n\n\nTo ensure that the groups run as well as possible online we will be limiting the number of people able to join the session. We often have more people signing up for each group than there are spaces. SUMMARY:Walk and Talk - Blackheath to The Cutty Sark\, London - Loss to Cancer
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 25th May 2024 we will be hosting an informal walk and talk event from Blackheath to The Cutty Sark in Greenwich. \n\n\n\nThis event is specifically for people who have lost a loved one to cancer. \n\n\n\nThis event is for people aged 18 and over. \n\n\n\nWhere are we walking? The walk will start at Blackheath Railway Station and end at The Cutty Sark in Greenwich. It will last approximately an hour and a half. \n\n\n\nCan anyone take part? Our walk is open to any adult who has had a loved one die from cancer. The aim is to give you space to meet and talk with others who have experienced a similar loss\, which our users tell us they find extremely helpful. \n\n\n\nWe will be limiting the number of walkers to 11 people so that we do not have too large a walking group. One of our volunteers will be hosting the event to walk and talk alongside you. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we do not allow guests unless you let us know in advance (as we are capping the number of attendees for each walk). \n\n\n\nPets and children are also not able to attend. \n\n\n\nWhat are the timings for the day?Walkers will be meeting at 10:00am. We aim to complete the walk just over one hour and a half later\, at approximately 12:15pm. \n\n\n\nDo I need to be a professional walker?Definitely not. The event is about being together\, spending time with others who have experienced similar things\, and being outdoors. It’s not about being fit or racing. \n\n\n\nHow do I get involved? To register for this event you will need to complete the registration form below: \n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\nYou will be sent an email with full details for the walk. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we are not a crisis service\, so if you are in need of immediate support please do reach out to Samaritans who provide immediate listening support. They can be reached on 116 123. \n\n\n\nWe send all participants a short survey after the session to get their feedback so that we can improve our services for all. Thank you for your contribution in helping us improve our support.
