Trustee Role
This is an exciting time for The Loss Foundation as we expand our Trustee Board and look to take on new individuals to contribute to our national development.
We are looking for people with varied skills and experience, but above and beyond that we are looking for individuals who have an empathy and passion for our charity’s vision and values.
You can see some initial information on the Trustee role at the Reach website below. If you are interested in applying you can contact us directly for more information via our Contact page or via the advert on Reach below.
Our wonderful charity team is expanding and we are looking to take on more compassionate, reliable and conscientious volunteers with an interest in walking and helping others.
One of the most effective support events we provide is in the form of our short walking and talking get togethers for those who are grieving. We are looking to increase our in-person get togethers across the country and are recruiting some volunteers to help us do so.
What does it involve? We meet as a small group, grab a tea/coffee, and mosey along together. This could be in a local park, garden, museum, etc. It’s pretty simple but can be hugely cathartic and effective for those who are really struggling with their loss and feeling isolated. We are passionate about offering the best possible care to an often-ignored population.
Walking volunteer roles involve facilitating a social get together / walk for people whose loved ones have died from cancer or Covid-19. This largely involves being the meet and greet person for those attending. Volunteers are welcome to design the get together (choosing a location locally) or we can help you do so. The walks are very informal and relaxed, and are targeted at bringing people together rather than having to cover many miles. Get togethers normally last 2 hours.
We will provide full training for the role and supervision. We ask for at least a 1-year commitment, which involves facilitating up to 3-6 walks a year.
If you are interested in becoming one of our Walking Volunteers please email Rohan, Charity Administrator, at rohan@thelossfoundation.org with a letter of interest.
Applicants will be invited to an informal chat with some of the charity’s team to discuss the role further.
Bereavement support volunteers (National)
Our wonderful charity team is expanding and we are looking to take on more compassionate, reliable and conscientious volunteers to help us facilitate our growing number of grief support events. We are passionate about offering the best possible care to an often-ignored population.
Bereavement support volunteer roles involve co-facilitating bereavement support groups and events for people whose loved ones have died from cancer or Covid-19; having supervision with co-facilitators (clinical psychologists), and contributing to the development and growth of the charity’s support. Training is provided in line with the Department of Health’s Standard of Care for Bereavement Support.
The successful candidates will have excellent organisational skills, flexibility, and enthusiasm for learning more about bereavement support. Volunteers will receive scheduled supervision from Clinical Psychologists, and have the opportunity to contribute to research. The charity offers excellent training and opportunities and CPD for people who are keen to pursue careers in psychology. We are also very open to welcoming applications from people with a general interest in helping others.
We ask for at least a 1-year commitment, which involves facilitating at least 3 times a month. You can find out more about the charity at www.thelossfoundation.org
Please email Rohan, Charity Administrator, at rohan@thelossfoundation.org with a copy of your CV and letter of interest.
Successful candidates will be invited to an interview with some of the charity’s team.
Social Media / Digital Advertising volunteer
We are looking for a volunteer to join our organisation to help run our social media channels.
We are looking to take on more volunteers as we scale up our services nationally. This particular volunteer role will involve overseeing the charity’s social media channels (currently Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin), creating and posting content, and responding to comments and questions. This will equate to approximately 5 hours a week. The successful candidate will have vast experience of social media, excellent organisational skills, flexibility, and enthusiasm for supporting those who are grieving.
Our charity is committed to supporting our volunteers in getting the experience they need to further their career goals. We are happy to offer career development support, which includes paying for appropriate training to help up-skill our volunteers and help with their development.
We welcome applications from compassionate, reliable and conscientious volunteers with excellent communications skills. We very much welcome applications from people with diverse skills, interests and backgrounds. More than anything, if you are genuinely interested in helping others, we would love to hear from you.
We ask for at least a 6 month commitment.
If you are interested get in touch with our Director Erin at erin@thelossfoundation.org with a letter of interest and CV.
