We understand that bereavement support varies for each person and at different stages of grief. While we encourage peer support, we recognise that formal therapeutic support may also be needed.
We offer a free 12-week bereavement therapy group to help people who have lost a loved one to cancer.
Led by team Psychologists, these therapy sessions focus on specific aspects of grief, such as challenging thoughts, sleep issues, and anxiety. They aim to deepen your understanding of loss, build coping skills, and foster connections with others on similar journeys.
“I feel that youβve done a great job and all sessions were amazing and had a profound effect on my emotional health.“
“Thank you so much. It was really good to share in this format and I would recommend it to anyone grieving.”
“I found that the facilitators were very intuitive and knew exactly what support I needed in the sessions.“
How can the therapy groups benefit you?
Throughout the years, participants in our therapy groups have generously shared their experiences through questionnaires and feedback after each session. Their input has allowed us to refine and improve our approach. We’re thrilled to learn that our groups have proven effective in alleviating low mood, anxiety, and trauma symptoms. We hope you, too, find significant support and connection through these sessions.
When will the next therapeutic groups take place and where?
Weβre pleased to share that we have launched a new round of online therapy groups for people who have lost a loved one to cancer. This round of groups will be running from February 2025 and May 2025.
These free groups, which are different to our peer support groups, are led by our experienced Psychologists and designed to help you better understand and manage grief, and to connect you with others who are also navigating loss.
If youβve been experiencing difficult thoughts or memories, low mood, anxiety, sleep difficulties, guilt, isolation, or a lack of motivation, these groups may provide the support you need. Each session will focus on a specific theme to help you explore and cope with different aspects of grief.
We have run these groups several times, and have published our previous findings, which have shown that those taking part experience many positive benefits, including decreased anxiety and low mood.
“I learned so much about me, about my grief, and about how to be kinder to myself.”

Hereβs how the groups will work:
- The groups consist of 8 sessions over 12 weeks, delivered online.
- We will have two groups launching in late February, and two groups in late May. Spaces are limited, so to ensure fairness, participants will be randomly allocated to groups starting in February or May.
- Because each session builds on the last, we kindly ask participants to commit to attending all 8 sessions.
“The facilitators were absolutely amazing, held the sessions to time without interrupting and being very compassionate. Please thank them.”
