No one should have to be alone in their grief. At The Loss Foundation, we’re committed to supporting those who’ve experienced the loss of a loved one to cancer. As our charity grows, expanding services both online and in person across the UK, we’re reaching more people than ever before. But with this growth comes a need for compassionate, dedicated volunteers like you to help us continue our important work.

Be a Part of Something Bigger
We are currently looking for volunteers to fill two key roles:
- Online Support Group Facilitators
- In-person Walk and Talk Hosts
These positions are designed to fit into your life, whether you can commit a few hours a month or more. You’ll receive ongoing training and supervision, all while being part of a community that genuinely cares about making a difference.
Why Volunteer?
Helping others through their grief journey is not only meaningful for them but can also be transformative for you. By guiding others through their loss, you may find healing and connection in your own grief. It’s an opportunity to give back while finding comfort and support from others who understand what you’re going through.

How You Can Get Involved
If this resonates with you, weβd love to hear from you. To express your interest, simply send us a short cover letter and CV outlining what motivates you to volunteer with us. Every volunteer has a unique story, and we canβt wait to hear yours.
Together, We Can Make a Difference
With your help, we can continue to ensure that no one faces their grief alone. Whether you’re facilitating online support groups or leading in-person Walk and Talk sessions, your contribution can truly change lives β both for those we serve and for yourself.
Thank you for considering this opportunity. We look forward to welcoming you into our family of volunteers.

π§ Understand the ‘Stages’ of Grief
Many people first encounter grief through the idea of βstages,β but the model is often simplified or misunderstood.
Our Stages of Grief page looks at where the framework began, what each stage represents, and how it can support understanding – without suggesting that grief unfolds in a tidy order.
