📢 Now Open – Our Free Bereavement Therapy Groups

We recognise that grieving the loss of a loved one is a deeply personal journey. Support needs vary from person to person and can evolve as you navigate grief. While peer support can be invaluable, we also understand the importance of professional therapeutic guidance during this challenging time.

That’s why we’re offering free 12-week bereavement therapy groups for individuals who have lost a loved one to cancer.

What to Expect from the Therapy Groups

Led by our experienced Psychologists, these sessions are designed to:

  • Deepen your understanding of grief and its many facets.
  • Address specific challenges, such as difficult thoughts, sleep disturbances, anxiety, and guilt.
  • Build practical coping strategies for managing day-to-day emotions.
  • Create meaningful connections with others experiencing similar feelings.

Each session focuses on a particular theme, allowing participants to explore different aspects of their grief journey. Feedback from past participants has highlighted the transformative impact of these groups:

“I feel that you’ve done a great job and all sessions were amazing and had a profound effect on my emotional health.”

“I learned so much about me, about my grief, and about how to be kinder to myself.”

Why Join?

Over the years, participant feedback has shown that these therapy groups can help reduce anxiety, lift low moods, and alleviate trauma-related symptoms. They are a safe, compassionate space where you can process your grief and gain the tools needed to navigate life after loss.

Upcoming Therapy Groups

We are excited to announce new therapy groups starting in 2025:

  • Format: 8 sessions over 12 weeks, delivered online.
  • Start Dates: Two groups launching in late February and two in late May.
  • Spaces: Limited availability; participants will be randomly allocated to February or May groups to ensure fairness.
  • Commitment: As each session builds on the last, we kindly ask participants to commit to attending all 8 sessions.

These groups differ from our peer support offerings, focusing instead on professional therapeutic guidance tailored to the complexities of grief.

🧠 Understand the ‘Stages’ of Grief

The idea of “stages” is one of the most widely recognised ways people make sense of grief – but it’s often misunderstood.

Our Stages of Grief page explains where the model came from, what the stages really mean, and how they can help (without implying grief follows a neat, linear path).
