We’re excited to share something new.
The Loss Foundation now has its own Reddit community – a space where people affected by grief can connect, share experiences, ask questions and support one another at any time of day or night.
Grief can feel incredibly isolating. Whilst our grief support groups, Walk and Talks and grief resources provide structured support, we know there are often moments in between when you simply want to talk to people who understand.
Our new Reddit community is designed to be another place where those conversations can happen.
What Is Reddit?
If you’ve never used Reddit before, you’re not alone.
Reddit is one of the world’s largest online communities, made up of thousands of discussion groups known as “subreddits“. Each subreddit focuses on a particular topic, allowing people with shared interests or experiences to connect, ask questions and support one another.
Think of it as a giant collection of online communities.
People can post questions, share experiences, seek advice, offer encouragement or simply read discussions from others who understand what they’re going through.
You don’t need to post if you don’t want to. Many people find comfort simply by reading the experiences of others.
Why Have We Created a Reddit Community?
We know that grief doesn’t follow a schedule.
Questions, emotions and difficult moments can arise at any time – whether that’s late at night, during a difficult anniversary, after receiving unexpected news, or simply when you’re missing someone you love.
Our Reddit community offers:
- A place to connect with others who understand grief
- Space to ask questions and share experiences
- Peer support from people at different stages of their grief journey
- Opportunities to discuss our resources, webinars and events
- A supportive community available whenever you need it
Whilst our community is moderated, it is primarily a peer-support space rather than a professional support service.
A Space for All Grief Experiences
Although The Loss Foundation was founded to support people bereaved through cancer, we recognise that grief touches many lives in many different ways.
Whether your loss was recent or many years ago, whether you’re supporting someone who is grieving, or whether you’re looking for people who simply “get it”, you’re welcome to join the conversation.
There is no right way to grieve, and there is no expectation that you need to have everything figured out before joining.
A Few Community Guidelines
To help keep the space safe and supportive, we ask members to:
- Treat one another with kindness and respect
- Remember that everyone’s grief experience is different
- Avoid judgement or criticism
- Respect privacy and confidentiality
- Seek urgent professional help if you are in crisis
Our moderators will help maintain a supportive environment, but the strength of any community comes from the people within it.
We’d Love You to Join Us
If you’d like to be part of a growing community of people who understand the realities of grief, we’d love to welcome you.
Whether you want to ask a question, share your story, offer support or simply listen, there’s a place for you.
Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can hear is:
“Me too.”
