The right support at the right time can make all the difference.
At The Loss Foundation, we know that more than most…
When I set up the Loss Foundation back in 2010, it was on the back of experiencing a complete lack of support when my own father died of cancer.
Having wobbled myself, I made it my mission to find a way of providing the therapy and support groups, workshops, weekend retreats and get-togethers that would have made such an enormous difference to me when I was struggling. I hope you’re one of the hundreds of people who has found our services useful.
I’m so proud of this organisation and what it has grown into – and of everyone who has helped to make it happen. But I’m also concerned, because now we too are at a loss.
Your support now can help protect the long-term future of our services
As a small charity, we have always punched above our weight and – with the help of our amazing volunteers – somehow made our shoestring budgets stretch far enough. But right now, we’re facing a serious funding shortfall and we urgently need to raise £20,000 to stay up and running, protect the long-term future of our services and ensure that the vast majority of them remain free of charge to all those who need them.
Will you help by supporting our 20 for 20 appeal?
2020 promises to be a pivotal year for us. As well as delivering our current services, we are about to launch a nationwide telephone support service and we’ll soon be providing a new way for people bereaved by cancer to meet up and support one another in their local area. And now, with these long-planned projects coming to fruition, we can turn our attention to bringing in some much-needed income.
We’re confident we’ll succeed; cancer touches so many lives and we know that people like you value our work and want to help. It’s just – and I’m a bit embarrassed to say this – we haven’t been the best so far at giving you the opportunity to give back. I know that’s something we need to change, starting right now. And right now, we need to raise money to help us continue our services beyond February.
Please give what you can to help us reach our £20k target for 2020
If you’ve had cause to call upon our services and would like to say thank you, we’d be so grateful for anything you can contribute to this appeal. A donation of any amount you can afford, big or small, will make a huge difference.
We know this work matters. Lives are being changed because of it. People in extreme pain are finding solace with us. Those who thought they could never carry on after their loved ones died are finding reasons to do so, through us. This has to continue and it has to grow to reach more people; I hope you’ll agree.
So, please donate now to help us reach our 20 for 20 target and please spread the word by sharing the link to our appeal page by email or on social media. It all helps.
Thank you so much,
Dr Erin Hope Thompson
