Hannah was only 45 when she died from breast cancer, following a “three-year medical rollercoaster that shredded both our lives”.
“I always secretly thought that Hannah’s death would come as a relief. That feeling didn’t last. It was replaced by unimaginable grief embedded with guilt, depression, fear and immense loneliness”.

Through our Support Meetings, Retreat and Walks, Sue-Ellen felt less isolated, and found the safe space she needed to grieve. While her grief did not diminish, the “road became easier to navigate”.

“Strangers with shared experiences became friends. I felt safe talking about the difficult topics. I was able to describe Hannah’s death to people who got it. To people who shared their stories. And not talking was OK too. I gradually stopped feeling so guilty for living. I even smiled at times. And ate so much cake”.

“Thank you to each and every one of you at The Loss Foundation for the magnificent support. The groups, the walks, social mornings, comedy nights and the retreat were each a valuable part of my life after Hannah. Thank you”.
