Launching Our New Grief@Work Toolkits

We are proud to announce the launch of three new workplace toolkits designed to help organisations better understand, respond to, and support grief in the workplace.

Grief affects every workplace. Whether following bereavement, caring responsibilities, serious illness, or other significant life losses, employees often continue working while managing experiences that can profoundly affect their wellbeing, confidence, concentration, and sense of stability. Yet many organisations still feel unsure about how to respond appropriately or create environments where people feel genuinely supported.

Created for managers, HR professionals, leaders, and organisations of all sizes, the toolkits provide practical, compassionate guidance to help workplaces navigate grief with greater confidence, empathy, and understanding.

The three toolkits cover key areas of workplace grief support, offering accessible resources and actionable guidance that organisations can implement in meaningful and sustainable ways. Together, they aim to support more open conversations around bereavement and loss, while helping organisations build healthier and more compassionate workplace cultures.

The toolkits explore:

  • How grief can affect employees in different ways
  • Practical approaches to supporting grieving individuals
  • Guidance for managers having sensitive conversations
  • Building compassionate workplace policies and cultures
  • Communication, flexibility, and ongoing support
  • Creating psychologically safer workplaces around grief and loss

We know there is no single way to grieve, and no perfect script for responding to loss. However, thoughtful workplace support can make a significant difference to how employees feel during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

About the Grief@Work Hub

The launch of these toolkits forms part of our wider Grief@Work Hub – a dedicated space designed to help organisations better understand grief in the workplace and develop more compassionate approaches to employee support.

The hub brings together practical resources, expert-informed guidance, workplace training opportunities, and tools to support organisations at every stage of their grief awareness journey. It has been created for employers, managers, HR teams, and anyone looking to foster workplaces where grief is acknowledged rather than avoided.

Within the Grief@Work Hub, organisations can access:

  • Workplace grief guidance and resources
  • Support for managers and HR professionals
  • Training and consultancy opportunities
  • Practical advice on communication and wellbeing
  • Information about the impact of grief on employees and teams
  • Resources to help create compassionate workplace cultures

Our aim is to help organisations move beyond uncertainty and feel more equipped to support employees experiencing bereavement and loss with empathy, confidence, and care.
