In all the time we’ve been here to support those who’ve lost someone to cancer, we’ve noticed some common threads in the cancer and loss journey. Even though every relationship and loss is unique, there are some symptoms and experiences many are likely to encounter.
When someone you love is dealing with cancer, even if you know it’s terminal, you may find you hold on to hope and stay positive, avoiding the harsh reality. What this often means is that, when a loved one dies from cancer, not only are we processing their death, but we are often only then processing everything that happened prior. This often comes in the form of experiencing traumatic memories or flashbacks, and these can come crashing over you like a ton of bricks…
On top of that, there’s anxiety, guilt, sleep troubles, and more. It’s tough to take care of ourselves in these moments, and having a bit more insight into what we’re going through can make a big difference.
That’s why we’re hosting some free grief support workshops. They’re focused on different aspects of grief to help you understand more about the areas where you’re struggling the most and how to support yourself through it. And all of them are hosted online to make them accessible to people in all corners of the country.
