Support groups

We provide regular online support groups – a place to share stories and experiences with others who have walked the path of cancer bereavement.

Our incredible volunteers lead these peer support groups, creating a warm and safe space for you to share, a space where your voice matters. We know that joining support groups can be nerve-wracking so we’ve put in the effort to make these sessions as welcoming and approachable as possible.

We know that for a lot of people, their biggest need is just to hear from, or speak to, others who have gone through something similar. Feel free to share as much or as little as you would like – there will be no pressure from us to talk. We typically kick off sessions with some guidelines, followed by inviting people to share their name and who it was that passed, but after that it’s entirely up to you how much you share.

We offer a variety of support groups to cater to different needs:

These are stand alone general cancer loss groups, where you will get a chance to meet with others who have also had a loved one die from cancer. You can join as many of these groups as you want and each time you are likely to meet some new people. Whether there are familiar or new faces, there will be one main thing in common which is cancer loss.

We have noticed the benefit of speaking with others who have experienced a very similar loss, and because of this we run themed groups for particular types of losses. Some of our themes include partner loss, parent loss, sibling loss, first year of cancer loss, etc. These are also stand alone groups and you can join as many of them as you like.

Sometimes there is a need to form deeper connections with people and to explore loss together over time. Our grief support bubbles offer a unique experience to be part of the same group for four monthly sessions, building lasting connections with both attendees and facilitators. It’s a chance to delve deeper into your journey and form new friendships in the process.”

“This group has given me more relief, release, and comfort than anything else since my wife passed away.”
