Speak to someone

Introducing Connect, our one-on-one talking service akin to a Buddy System. The goal of Connect is to pair up individuals with similar losses for supportive conversations, meaningful connections, and perhaps the start of a friendship. We’ll introduce you to your match, offer guidance on initiating conversations, and check in to see how you’re doing. Participation is both free and voluntary.

During the grieving process, finding connections and a space to openly express your feelings can be challenging. Engaging in conversations with someone who has undergone a similar loss can create a sense of liberation, enabling both parties to share openly about their experiences and what the loss means to them.

If you have lost a loved one to cancer, are over 18 years old, reside in the UK, and are willing to provide some information about yourself for matching, you’re eligible to participate. We warmly welcome individuals from all backgrounds, at any point since their loss, who feel prepared to engage in mutually supportive one-on-one conversations with someone facing a similar situation.

We strive to match individuals based on the type of loss and participant background as closely as possible. Additionally, we consider any match preferences you share with us. While we do our best to align criteria, the matching process depends on the information voluntarily provided by registered participants, making it challenging to achieve perfect alignment in all aspects.

At The Loss Foundation, we offer various support services, each catering to different needs. Depending on your unique situation, emotional state, and coping mechanisms, a specific service may be more suitable for you at a given time. During the Connect registration survey, we’ll ask a few questions to understand your needs better. If another type of support service is deemed more appropriate, we’ll guide you accordingly.
