Retreats

Our retreat, Time After Loss, is a weekend of support for those who have lost a loved one to cancer – be they a friend, partner, or relative. It’s a space where you can connect, share, and heal with others who understand your unique journey through grief. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed or seeking ways to adapt to life without your loved one, this retreat is designed to meet you where you are in your bereavement process.

Set in farm cottages in the picturesque Kent countryside, the weekend offers a blend of group support sessionsmindfulness practices, and country walks to help you unwind. Our professional facilitators will guide you through practical techniques, fostering self-compassion during challenging times and providing tips for coping with everyday challenges like troubled sleep and lack of motivation. The weekend features a structured program with ample free time, and all sessions and activities are optional. There is also a games room with snooker and table-tennis.

Before and after the retreat, we’ll invite attendees to complete questionnaires to better understand the retreat’s impact, ensuring we continue to provide the best support possible.

The retreat spans from Friday evening to Sunday lunchtime and includes delicious meals and snacks prepared by our in-house chef. Please note that we provide a vegetarian menu for the entirety of the retreat.

Our retreat is led by a dedicated group of Loss Foundation volunteers with expertise in grief and bereavement. This event is designed for adults, and while we understand that children also experience grief, we are unable to provide specialised support for them at this time.

“This retreat meant the world to me… I was going to book again this year but… then I realised, oh my gosh, I’m doing better! Amazing and frankly miraculous. Best leave the space for someone it can really do wonders for, like it did for me. Forever indebted”
